Ph.D. (Visiting Research Fellow)
Robert Kubinec
Robert Kubinec is a political economist who studies the effects of broken political and economic institutions in the non-Western world. He publishes papers, code and data from his research projects and also my blog, Punk Rock Poli Sci, that mixes poli sci (the politics of economic development) with a splash of punk rock (rethinking methods for scientific research in the 21st century).
Note: He will begin at Texas A&M in August, and he is no longer at U of South Carolina.

He is Associate Dean of the Graduate School, U.S. Army Institute for Religious Leadership at Fort Jackson, SC; Executive Director of the Institute for Faith and Resilience; and an Army Reserve Chaplain. He was ordained at COTA in 2008 and is excited to have returned recently.

Ph.D. (Visiting Research Fellow)
Koert Verhagen
Originally from Cincinnati, OH (home to many long-suffering professional sports fans; still one of the greatest cities in the USA), Koert Verhagen went to Taylor for his undergraduate degree. Upon leaving Taylor, his education and work led him from Colorado to Boston to Chicago to Dublin, and then, to St. Andrews, Scotland, where he completed his PhD and engaged in post-doctoral research. Then, he went back to Taylor, where relationships are central to the educational task and learning begins with wonder.
